Knife Care
Hand wash and dry your knife immediately after use. Do not place it in a dishwasher. Avoid cutting frozen food, bones, or other hard materials unless the knife is designed for that purpose.
Store the blade in a knife block, saya, blade guard, or on a suitable magnetic strip.
Complimentary First Sharpening
Eligible knives purchased from Tetsu & Oak include their first standard sharpening at no additional cost. Proof of purchase may be required.
Major chip repair, thinning, rust removal, reprofiling, and restoration work are not included.
Keep your sharpening stones flat and performing consistently with the Naniwa Grooved Whetstone Flattening Stone.
Regular sharpening gradually creates a hollow in the centre of a whetstone. This coarse #60 silicon-carbide flattening stone removes high spots and restores an even sharpening surface. Its recessed channels help carry away slurry and abrasive material while you work.
Designed for routine whetstone maintenance and supplied with a reusable storage case.
Specifications:
• Manufacturer: Naniwa
• Grit: #60
• Material: Silicon carbide
• Dimensions: 170 × 55 × 30 mm
• Grooved working surface
• Model: QA-0160
• Made in Japan
Directions:
Soak both the flattening stone and the whetstone being corrected thoroughly with water. Place the whetstone on a stable surface and rub the flattening stone evenly across it using controlled back-and-forth motions. Apply water regularly and continue until the whetstone surface is flat.
For easier monitoring, draw a pencil grid across the whetstone before flattening. Continue until the markings disappear evenly.
Rinse both stones thoroughly and allow them to dry completely before storing.
Please note:
This is a coarse maintenance stone intended for flattening whetstones—not for sharpening knives. Abrasive powder may be used to speed up the flattening process but is not included.
