Knife Care
Hand wash and dry your knife immediately after use. Do not place it in a dishwasher. Avoid cutting frozen food, bones, or other hard materials unless the knife is designed for that purpose.
Store the blade in a knife block, saya, blade guard, or on a suitable magnetic strip.
Complimentary First Sharpening
Eligible knives purchased from Tetsu & Oak include their first standard sharpening at no additional cost. Proof of purchase may be required.
Major chip repair, thinning, rust removal, reprofiling, and restoration work are not included.
The black nakiri is a premium-feeling 165mm nakiri from Muneishi, made with Aogami #2 carbon steel. The nakiri shape is designed for vegetable prep, with a flat edge profile that helps create clean, efficient cuts through greens, onions, herbs, and other produce. The black kurouchi-style finish gives the knife a more rustic artisan look, while the octagonal walnut wood handle adds a traditional Japanese feel. Because this is a carbon steel knife, it should be dried immediately after use and cared for properly to prevent rust.
Blacksmith / maker: Muneishi
Knife type: Nakiri
Steel: Aogami #2 carbon steel
Size: 165mm blade
Wood: Octagonal walnut wood handle
Care: This is a carbon steel knife and needs extra care. Wash and dry immediately after use. Do not leave it wet, dirty, or sitting on a cutting board. A grey-blue patina is normal and protective. Orange/red rust is not normal and should be removed with a rust eraser. For longer storage, apply a thin layer of food-safe mineral oil or camellia oil.
